Sun, June 19, 2005 - 7:19 AMOK here goes.
I'm gaz, im 38. LOve to get naked with other guys for M2M fun or just to spend time naked with other guys (prefer the 1st option LOL)
Now what would I like to see on this tribe??
How about a GAYUK meeting? as many of us on this tribe as possible getting together someplace.
Maybe a listing of where to go (or where NOT to go) for gay friendly places
Also a listing of good places to strip off and/or take pics in the UK.
or we could mix them all together and have Trunk's GAYUK outdoor orgy LOL

Re: Lets get the ball rolling...
Sat, June 25, 2005 - 11:15 AMDan mentioned gatherings. Does anyone know of any gay gathering in the UK in July and August? I'll be in Wales this summer and I've been searching on the web with not much luck. Are their any radicalfaeries or like-minded folks in this group? I'd love to meet some men for a real connection, just hanging out, sex, drinks, etc.
I found the Edward Carpenter Centre, but it seems to shut down in the summer.
Thanks, Jim -

Re: Lets get the ball rolling...
Tue, October 4, 2005 - 4:20 AMi'd like to see evidence of some gay men with more to say or on their minds than just sex - now that would be an achievement!
I guess with the other online sites (such as gaydar etc) it's al focused around sex so it would be good to speak to people here in the uk with some opinions, some views on life and how we see it. -

Re: Lets get the ball rolling...
Tue, October 4, 2005 - 5:17 AMHmm - that sounds like a radical plan! The problem is that porn - and sex based stuff generally - is so diverting. So it's easy to get seduced by it and think that a knob - and the varying things you can do with it - make you gay. Whereas in fact I think that what we do in bed is probably the thing that we have most in common with straight people!! It's everything else - in terms of outlook, politics, sensibility, style, humour (etc etc etc) that sets us apart and makes us different. Thank baby Jesus! -

Re: Lets get the ball rolling...
Tue, October 4, 2005 - 11:03 AMhmmm i'm not sure i agree with you on that one, aside from the fact i fall in love with/sleep with men i'm no different to my straight mates - aside from the fact i have three wardrobes full of clothes and my madonna collection is a tad bigger than theirs - lifestyle wise, politics, etc i'm the same, so i don't think it rings totally true. -

Re: Lets get the ball rolling...
Wed, October 5, 2005 - 12:40 AMWell - I suppose it just goes to show that we're all different! I think that same sex preference does make a difference - if only because of the way in which we are socialised. Most of my friends are straight rather than gay; but then again most of them are women. I get on with their husbands and boyfriends - but the primary relationship is with the female part of the straight couple... I didn't deliberately do that, it just worked out that way; and I think that that is as much about what the straight males want out of a friendship with another guy as it is about what I need out of a relationship with anyone (male/female/straight/gay). The sensibility and sensitivity just isn't there with 99% of straight men - we're just wired differently. And that's cool... -

Re: Lets get the ball rolling...
Wed, October 5, 2005 - 2:55 AMwell they've scientifucally proved that transexuals actually have a 'female' brain (and female to male transexuals have a male brain) and believe its to do with a burst of oestrogen affecting the babys brain development and making it the opposite gender to that of the physical gender, hence why people feel trapped in the wrong body, if this is correct then the theory is that if the unborn foetus were sunjected to less oestrogen than it takes to totally turn the brain into a female one it may just affect some of the cranial development - therefore giving the male female tendencies, urges and emotions (sound like a lot of gay men) explaining why gay men are into clothes, nice furnishings and sensitive (building a nest, taking care of the loved ones etc) i think this theory goes a long way to explain a lot and on the large of it is scientifically backed up.
Therefore it's only natural that gay men would get on well with straight women - we share a lot of the same sensibilities, to put it simply - we think the same way as them. Saying that i have many straight male friends and we get on fantastically - i think the major difference is their obsession with sport which i totally don't get myself - but then this is part of the male brains 'problem solving' mechanism, whereas female brains access emotion first - sound familiar? again another female trait - it's all to do with brain activity. Gay men are usually sensitive and more emotional, not that sporty (of course there are exceltions - again perhaps due to the amount of oestrogen that has affected the brain development) where as guys just look at the problem and how to solve it - and worry about the emotions later - when they happen. An example of this is a straight couple i know very well, they had a huge fight, she wasnt getting enough love or attention in her opinion, so she said she was leaving, packed up all her stuff and stood there screaming at him because he offered to 'help her pack' - his way of looking at him, although he loved her - was that she was unhappy and that he wanted her to be happy, so his best way was to help her pack and get out of the situation she was sad in, her side of it was that she was trying to provoke him to beg her not to go, to get on his knees and cry and say "no no i love you DONT GO I CANT LIVE WITHOUT YOU"
but do you think she got that?
from a straight guy?
no
you'd get that from a LOT of gay guys, but not from a straight guy, again it's problem solving vs emotion, anyway before i go off on one i hope maybe that gives some insight into behavioural patterns and their underlying causes! -

Re: Lets get the ball rolling...
Wed, October 5, 2005 - 3:10 AMHmmm - you've certainly thought about this a lot! I've seen the scientific stuff too and I'm sure that physiology has a lot to do with it. So. Where does that leave us? Some of me is explained by how much oestrogen I got from my mother (I always knew deep down it was her fault!) but I think there's more to me than my molecular structure... -

Re: Lets get the ball rolling...
Thu, October 6, 2005 - 2:50 AMtheres no doubt that societys 'conditioning' affects us all, but you cant turn a gay man straight any more than you can turn a straight man gay, its not a choice we've made and if you notice the behaviour of boys in childhood who turn out to be gay its usually apparent in early childhood by their behaviour, tastes, activities and for a lot 'a flair', this isn't about sleeping with men, this is a behavioural pattern that is distinctively more what is associated with the female of the species - and would go to prove the theories, this is an age before sexual attraction begins and that even enters into it.
I've no doubt that some boys may be in a single parent family or grow up closer to their mother, thereby picking up her mannerisms or tastes , but this wont make u suddenly want to go out and sleep with guys - you dont see your mom doing that right?! (if you do i suggest a month long special on dr phil) so the sexuality issue is not one that a child takes into account, it simply 'is' -

Re: Lets get the ball rolling...
Thu, October 6, 2005 - 5:12 AMWhich brings us back to where we started. It just 'is'... there will always be a certain proportion of people at any given time who will be same sex attracted. It's nothing to be scared of and it's not catching and it doesn't signal the end of society as we know it. Once society begins ot take this more sanguine view, homosexuality will just be a viewed as naturally occuring variant to the norm and we can all move on!! Have you read 'Virtually Normal' by Andrew Sullivan? Excellent book on a political response to homosexuality...
